Many wireless modems and data-capable handsets connect to mobile computers
using serial cables, and are presented to the operating system as a modem.
The PCCA has been addressing associated issues for a number of years, and
has proposed extensions to existing interfaces to facilitate such
connections. An alternative approach has been to treat the wireless device
as a network device and to use network interfaces such as the Network
Device Interface Specification (NDIS). This approach is well suited for PC
Card type devices. The PCCA has also been active in developing wireless
extensions to NDIS. New platforms, such as palm size devices, also offer a
new set of challenges.

This meeting will address current issues with current interfaces, and will
examine developments to support higher speed devices, new networks, and
new interfaces.

REGISTRATION

If you are interested in participating in this meeting, please register by
sending e-mail to pcca@pcca.org with your name, company name,
e-mail address and phone number. PCCA member companies do not
have to pay a fee to attend the meeting. Non-member companies may
attend as observers. There is a $300 per-person fee for non members
to attend the meeting. This fee can be applied towards membership
in the PCCA.
