BACKGROUND
As mobile phones, PDAs and computing platforms become more powerful,
and as wireless data networks can deliver greater amounts of information,
developers are looking at means of downloading executable code to mobile
devices. Java is one of the leading technologies in this area.
The intent of this meeting is to educate attendees on Java as it applies
to the mobile
and wireless environments and to identify the opportunities and issues
involved.

In addition, we will be following up on ongoing PCCA efforts, including
wireless extensions to NDIS, sending AT commands to wireless modems

IP protocols and our ongoing wireless interoperability workshops.

INTEROPERABILITY WORKSHOP
The PCCA and MDI-ng may hold a joint interoperability workshop the day

or day after the PCCA meeting. A final decision will be made soon.

Organizations that are not PCCA members may attend for a fee of $300
per person. This
fee is waived for companies invited to present information.
INFORMATION FOR PRESENTERS
The following information is for people presenting at this PCCA meeting:

Presentations are typically 30 minutes to 45 minutes long unless arranged
otherwise.

There is usually a 5 to 15 minute discussion following the presentation.

We will provide an LCD projector.

The audience is technical, consisting mostly of engineering and program
managers.

Generally, 30 to 50 people attend each meeting, representing a broad spectrum
of
the wireless industry, including carriers, infrastructure vendors,
device vendors,
software vendors and computer vendors.

If you are presenting a technical contribution, please provide hard copy
for attendees.
We will advise you on the number.

We request a copy of your presentation (PDF or PPT) before the meeting
so that we
can post it in the members area of the PCCA web page.
